Sabrina Carpenter may be nominated for Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammy Awards, but she’s far from a newcomer in the music industry.
Now 25, Carpenter had already released five albums before her irresistible single “Espresso” took the charts by storm in April, launching her to new heights of stardom. This momentum only grew with the August release of her sixth album, Short n’ Sweet.
While it might seem unusual for an artist with a decade-long career to be up for a newcomer award, Carpenter embraces the journey that brought her here.
“I’ve always been true to myself and believed in my work since I was young,” she shares in an email interview. “I’ve realized that it’s always been about the small baby steps that you take over time to get you to this point.”
Grammy Recognition and Carer Milestones
Carpenter is not just a contender for Best New Artist—she’s also up for Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance at the Grammys. The recognition fulfills a long-held dream for the singer-songwriter.
She calls the nominations “such an honor,” adding that achieving this milestone has been a goal since her childhood.
Touring and Fan Engagement
The Short n’ Sweet tour’s North American leg recently wrapped up, featuring a unique “Sweet Spot” pop-up experience in collaboration with T-Mobile. The activation provided fans with ticket giveaways and added excitement to her shows.
“These collaborations have felt super authentic to this album and tour and fan friendly, which I’m grateful for,” Carpenter explains. “It’s great to work with a brand that values the same things I do and finds ways to make my concerts more accessible and exciting for my fans.”
Carpenter fondly recalls the tour’s most memorable moments, which for her included “connecting with my fans” each night. She praised their creative outfits and “hilarious” signs held up in the audience.
Marking her first arena tour, the North American leg ran from September through November. Carpenter is now gearing up for the European leg of the tour, which kicks off in March.
“I can’t wait to see all of my fans in Europe,” she says. “There are a couple of cities I haven’t been to in a really long time, so I’m excited to see which crowd is the loudest.”
Reflecting on a Whirlwind Year
As Carpenter looks ahead to 2025, she admits she hasn’t fully processed the transformative year she just experienced.
“I don’t think I have fully reflected yet, as I’m also trying to be present in the moment,” she says. “But I’m just happy to see my songs connect with so many people from all walks of life. That’s why I love to write songs.”
