Charli XCX’s track “Brat” has become a standout in the awards season, earning the Essex-born singer the highest number of Brit nominations this year. She’s up for artist of the year, album of the year, song of the year, and dance and pop act.
Seven-time Brit Award winner Dua Lipa follows with four nominations, including pop act, a title she claimed in 2024. She is also nominated for artist of the year, album of the year for her album Radical Optimism, and song of the year for “Training Season.”
Also nominated for album of the year are The Last Dinner Party, who won the Brits’ rising star award last year. They are also up for group of the year, best new artist, and alternative/rock act categories. Meanwhile, British jazz quintet and 2023 Mercury Prize winner Ezra Collective will make their Brits debut with four nominations in the same categories.
The Beatles, who are nominated for song of the year with “Now & Then,” mark a return to the Brit Awards nearly 50 years after their last nomination in 1977 at the inaugural ceremony. Other British artists with multiple nominations this year include Beabadoobee, Central Cee, and Jade.
The winners of the 2025 Brit Awards will be announced during the live ceremony on March 1 at the O2 Arena, with the event being broadcast exclusively on ITV1 and ITVX. The winners of five genre-specific awards will be determined by public voting through WhatsApp, which will open on January 31 and close on February 14.
Damian Christian, managing director and president of promotions at Atlantic Records (part of Warner Music UK) and chair of the Brit Committee for 2025, expressed his excitement, saying, “This year’s nominations once again showcase the incredible range of diverse talent we have in the U.K. I’m thrilled that Charli is having her moment with an impressive five nominations.
Partnering with WhatsApp for the first time will add a new, exciting element to the voting process and allow even more fans to engage with the show. Congratulations to all the nominees, and best of luck to everyone as we gear up for March 1st!”
