Miley Cyrus has now achieved a total of 23 platinum records. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), her two recent hits, “Flowers” and “Used to Be Young,” have both received notable certifications, with “Flowers” reaching 7x platinum and “Used to Be Young” earning platinum status.
A platinum certification is awarded for one million equivalent song units earned. The RIAA defines one equivalent song unit as either one digital song sale or 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams.
In 2016, the RIAA updated its Gold & Platinum Awards Program, expanding it from a certification based solely on sales to a system that also includes streams and track equivalents.
Along with her 23 platinum records, Cyrus has also earned a diamond certification for her 2010 hit “Party in the U.S.A.,” which has sold or been streamed a total of 10 million units in the United States.

“Flowers,” widely believed to be written about her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth, was featured on Cyrus’ eighth studio album Endless Summer Vacation, which was released in March 2023.
The track spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, and the album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.
At the 2024 Grammys, “Flowers” earned Cyrus her first two Grammy Awards: Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year. She performed the song during the ceremony, marking the celebration of her achievement.
On the other hand, “Used to Be Young” takes a more reflective tone, offering a look back at Cyrus’ personal growth throughout her career.
