Jordan Mailata and Philly Specials To Get Hosted and Honored At Philadelphia Music Alliance

The Philadelphia Music Alliance is set to host its annual Walk of Fame Gala on April 30, celebrating artists with Philadelphia ties who have made significant contributions to the music industry.

Among this year’s honorees is Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata, representing the Philly Specials.

The Philly Specials—a trio consisting of Eagles offensive linemen Mailata, Lane Johnson, and former center Jason Kelce—have won over fans with their beloved Christmas albums.

Their most recent release, A Philly Special Christmas Party, marked their third album and featured collaborations with renowned artists such as Stevie Nicks, Boyz II Men, and Mt. Joy.

All proceeds from their albums are directed to charities throughout the city. The group’s first two albums raised more than $4 million, and this year, they launched Operation Snowball, an initiative that provided Christmas gifts to every student and teacher in Philadelphia’s public and charter schools.

“This year’s honorees represent the spectacular talent that this city has birthed and nurtured, as well as the music that shines bright across Philadelphia and serves as this city’s heart and soul,” Alan Rubens, chairman of the Philadelphia Music Alliance, said in a press release.

“The Philadelphia Eagles didn’t just win the Super Bowl, they won our hearts with that spectacular Christmas album and we’re honored to celebrate their recording achievements at our gala this year.”

In addition to Mailata and the Philly Specials, the April ceremony will recognize several other influential figures.

The Philadelphia Music Alliance will honor Sir Bob Geldof in commemoration of Live Aid’s 40th anniversary. Meanwhile, Stephen Sondheim, Janis Ian, David Ludwig, Schoolly D, David Dye, the Orlons, and Settlement Music School will be inducted into the Walk of Fame.

Each inductee will receive a bronze plaque, joining over 150 previous honorees along Broad Street’s Avenue of the Arts. The dedication ceremony unveiling their plaques is scheduled for April 30 at 11:30 a.m.

That evening, the Walk of Fame Gala will take place at Vie, located at 600 N. Broad Street, beginning at 6 p.m.

The event will be hosted by WMGK morning show host and Sixers public address announcer Matt Cord and will feature a live performance by the Hooters, who were inducted into the Walk of Fame in 2019.
