Billy Ray Cryus Appearance At Nashville Event, The First After Trump Inauguration Performance

Billy Ray Cyrus, 63, stepped out for his first public event since performing at President Donald Trump’s inauguration last month.

On Saturday, February 1, the country music star attended a fundraiser supporting the Nashville Humane Association in Nashville, Tennessee. The event aimed to raise funds for rescuing homeless pets and featured a celebrity and rescue pet runway show, where Cyrus was one of the notable participants.

In an exclusive video obtained, Cyrus can be seen confidently walking the runway, sporting his signature hat-and-sunglasses look while holding a small dog in his hands. The event was hosted by fellow Grammy-winning country legend Emmylou Harris.

Cyrus’ appearance follows his performance at the Liberty Ball on Monday, January 20, where he closed the event with an acoustic rendition of “Achy Breaky Heart” despite experiencing technical difficulties. After facing criticism for accepting the invitation, he defended his performance on social media.

“This was the most fun part of the Liberty Ball! And if you didn’t see it … you just had to be there,” Cyrus wrote on Instagram on January 22.

In an interview on January 21, he elaborated on his decision to perform, saying, “I wouldn’t have missed the honor of playing this event whether my microphone, guitar, and monitors worked or not. I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me. I had a ball at the Liberty Ball last night.”

He added, “I’ve learned through all these years when the producer says, ‘You’re on,’ you go entertain the folks even if the equipment goes to hell. I was there for the people and we had a blast. That’s called rock ‘n’ roll!!!”

Trace Cyrus Speaks Out Amid Family Tension

Cyrus’ charitable appearance in Nashville came amid ongoing family drama. Last month, his son Trace Cyrus made waves by claiming on Instagram that Billy Ray was “not healthy.” (Billy Ray adopted Trace, 35, and his sister Brandi Cyrus after marrying their mother, Tish Cyrus, in 1992.

Tish, 57, and Billy Ray later welcomed children Miley, Braison, and Noah Cyrus before finalizing their divorce in 2022. Billy Ray also shares son Christopher Cyrus with his ex, Kristin Luckey.)

Braison Cyrus, 30, appeared to counter his brother’s claim, stating that Billy Ray was both “healthy” and “happy” and that he was set to produce his father’s upcoming album.

In response to the ongoing tension between his children, Billy Ray took to social media to share a message of prayer and healing.

Who’s the Queen of Country?

“Sunday callin’. Giving thanks for the California rain,” he wrote via YouTube Shorts on January 26. “Praying for the brokenhearted and their pain. Praying for my family. For my children … sons and daughters … and their mother. Let this moment be the start of healing for us all. ‘The past does not equal the future.’ Amen.”
