Hayden Pedigo & Chat Pile Reveal Collaboration Making A Joint Album

The Texan-born guitar virtuoso Hayden Pedigo is a fingerstyle maestro with a life story as intriguing as his music.

Known for collaborations with artists like Jessica Pratt and Tim Heidecker, Pedigo also crafts his own work, including last year’s album The Happiest Times I Ever Ignored.

Beyond his music, he’s walked the runway as a model, and his unsuccessful bid for a seat on Amarillo’s city council became the focus of the 2021 documentary Kid Candidate.

Now, Pedigo has reportedly teamed up with the noise-rock band Chat Pile for a new album.

For the uninitiated, Chat Pile is a group of Oklahoma City noise-rockers known for their gut-punch riffs, nausea-inducing rhythms, and brutally honest lyrics.

They’re also film buffs and favorites among indie music circles. Their album Cool World dropped a few months ago and was met with widespread acclaim.

Chat Pile is a quintessential DIY success story but also embraces collaboration. Over the years, they’ve released splits with other bands and even composed the soundtrack for the indie film Tenkiller.

While a partnership between Pedigo and Chat Pile might seem unconventional at first glance, it undeniably has its own logic.

Earlier today, Pedigo took to Instagram to share a photo of himself alongside Chat Pile, revealing that they’ve spent the past month in Oklahoma City working on a new album together.

He described the project as “apocalyptic western picking slammed through heavy riffs and maybe 90s Chicago post-rock even?”

The description alone promises something extraordinary. While there’s no word yet on a release date, Pedigo and Chat Pile’s collaboration has certainly piqued interest.
