The refreshed 20th-anniversary edition of Thrill Seeker will feature Jake Luhrs on vocals, alongside guest appearances from Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage and the band’s original vocalist, Josh McManness.
Metalcore veterans August Burns Red are gearing up to commemorate two decades of their debut album Thrill Seeker later this month. To celebrate the milestone, the band has taken an ambitious approach by fully re-recording the album for its anniversary re-release.
The 20th-anniversary edition was meticulously updated under the guidance of producers Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland. This refreshed version includes contributions from Jake Luhrs, the band’s longtime vocalist, who joined August Burns Red after the original release.
“When I joined the band in early 2006, I often talked about how much I wanted to record vocals for Thrill Seeker in the studio,” Luhrs shares. “I toured extensively on the album and have always felt deeply connected to it.
As the 20th anniversary approached, we decided to give Thrill Seeker a facelift. Revisiting these songs and bringing them to life again was an incredibly rewarding experience. This album changed the trajectory of my life, and I can’t wait for fans to hear the updated version.”
To give fans a taste of what’s to come, the band has released a new lyric video for the re-recorded single, “Your Little Suburbia Is In Ruins.”
The updated edition also pays homage to its roots, with Adam Dutkiewicz, who produced the original Thrill Seeker, contributing guest vocals to “Speech Impediment.” Additionally, former vocalist Josh McManness lends his voice to the track “Barbarian.” The re-release will include the bonus track “Pride & Humility,” which has also been re-recorded to mark the occasion.
The special anniversary edition will be released on January 24 via ABR Records. It will be available on vinyl in three unique color variants, accompanied by a new merchandise collection. Fans can pre-order the album and shop the exclusive capsule now.
