Mariachi Veritas de Harvard was started in 2001 by Harvard graduate Claudia Garcia. We are comprised entirely of Harvard students and are the first and only 100% student mariachi on the East Coast. Many of us had not heard mariachi before joining the group, but we all played different styles of music before joining Mariachi Veritas. We are all essentially self-taught, receive no faculty oversight, and are responsible for the musical and organizational development of the group. We have played numerous shows over the past several years, including for celebrities and notable figures such as President of Mexico Felipe Calderon, former President of Mexico Vicente Fox, George Lopez, Wyclef Jean, Brad Pitt, Dan Akroyd, and Salma Hayek, among others. In December 2007, Mariachi Veritas de Harvard won third place in the University Group Competition level at the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza in San Antonio, Texas.

Mariachi Véritas de Harvard se inició en 2001 por Claudia Garcia, una estudiante anterior de Harvard. Somos un grupo compuesto solamente de estudiantes de Harvard y somos la primera y única banda mariachi de estudiantes en la costa este. Algunos de nosotros nunca habíamos escuchado la música de mariachi antes de ser miembros del grupo, pero todos eramos músicos en otros estilos. Ahora aprendimos el estilo de los mariachis y nos ayudamos con el desarrollo músical del grupo. Hemos tocados muchos shows en nuestra corta historia, incluyendo para celebridades y personas notables como el Presidente de México Felipe Calderón, el Presidente Anterior de México Vicente Fox, George Lopez, Wyclef Jean, Brad Pitt, Dan Akroyd y Salma Hayek. En el año 2007, Mariachi Véritas ganó el tercer lugar en la Competición de Grupos de Universidades en el Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza en San Antonio, Texas.
